This project’s goal is to implement the 034 Motorsports fuel relay into the wiring harness in order to provide full power to the fuel pump at all times. This allows the car to avoid any starvation problems that may occur from power issues, as well as allowing for a higher floor for HP before running into fueling issues.
We start off with instructions and the kit.
First, routing the wiring under the seats. This wasn’t an issue, obviously. The battery is literally 3 feet away from the fuel tank, which may be another issue when I think about it… Oh well, it’s stock, and the German engineers surely knew what they were doing.
Next, we remove the old connector and depin some of the wires. This was a nightmare, as the original connector disintegrated and I had to buy another. After a few weeks of waiting, I finally got back to it and we were back in business.
Finally, we tie the other end of the loom into the battery terminals — both sides. Fun fact: the instructions actually say to just use a zip tie to mount the relay, so this is “to spec.”
Done. To test, I started the car… and it works!
